Artificial Neural Network

An artificial neural network is a mathematical model inspired by biological neural networks. A neural network consists of an interconnected group of artificial neurons and it processes information using a connectionist approach to computation.The concept of artificial neural network (ANN) came from biological system: central nervous system. So, neural network is directive head of artificial intelligence of machines.     
The first neural network was invented in 1958 by psychologist Frank Rosenblatt.

Artificial Neurons:

• It is an abstraction of biological neurons.
• They are the constitutive units in a neural network.
• Each neuron takes many input signals, then based on
  Internal weighting system, produces a single output signal t
  hat is typically sent as input is other neuron. 

Artificial Neural Network in Robotics:

The important area of application of neural network is in the field of robotics. Usually, these networks are designed to direct a manipulator, which is the most important form of the industrial robot, to gasp objects, based on sensor data. Another application includes the steering and path-planning of autonomous robot vehicles. In robotics, the major task involves making movements dependent on sensor data.
