Health Information Technology (HIT) is the application of information processing involving in the use of Health care information.Health information technology (HIT) has the potential to improve the quality,safety and efficiency of healthcare.Diffusion of IT in healthcare is generally low but surveys indicate that providers plan to increase their investments.

Health Information Technology(HIT) provides the umbrella framework to describe the comprehensive management of health information across computerized systems and it secures exchange between consumers,providers government and quality entities and insurers.HIT is in general increasingly viewed as the most promising tool for overall quality,safety and efficiency of the health delivery system.

The consistent utilization of HIT will:

· Improve health care quality

· Prevent medical errors

· Reduce healthcare costs

· Increase admintrative efficiency

· Decrease paperwork

· Expand access to affordable care

Interoperable HIT will improve individual patient care, it will also bring many public health benefits.

· Early detection of infectious disease outbreaks around the country.

· Improved tracking of chronic disease management.
